Distance-Vector Routing Protocols for Networks with Unidirectional Link

چکیده
W e first introduce a simple distance-vector protocol f o r routing in networks having unidirectional links. The protocol can be seen as a n adaptation for these networks of the strategy as used in the popular RIP protocol. T h e protocol comprises two m a i n algorithms, one f o r collecting “from” information, and the other one for generating and propagating ((to” information. However, the traditional RIP approach has been a ‘(busy” one because of the periodic sending of routing informat ion euen after the network has reached a stable state. W e make fur ther improvements o n the simple protocol t o get a message-thrifty variant. Routing informat ion message i s sent only when there i s a change t o the topology or when a lank changes cost and only those affected entries need t o be sent around.

A Multi-path Routing Protocol For Unidirectional Networks
Most of routing protocols designed for the Internet today are for networks with bidirectional links. These protocols cannot be easily extended to networks with unidirectional links without increasing cost. In [1], Chen et al. presented a distance-vector-based routing protocol for unidirectional networks where a routing table is derived for each node in the network. In this paper, we extend the ...

Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANETs) are receiving a significant interest and are becoming very popular in the world of wireless networks and telecommunication. MANETs consist of mobile nodes which can communicate with each other without any infrastructure or centralized administration. In MANETs, the movement of nodes is unpredictable and complex; thus making the routing of the packets challenging....

In recent years, routing has been the most focused area in ad hoc networks research. On-demand routing in particular, is widely developed in bandwidth constrained mobile wireless ad hoc networks because of its effectiveness and efficiency. Most proposed on-demand routing protocols are built and relied on single route for each data session. Whenever there is a link disconnection on the active ro...
متن کاملComparative Performance Evaluation of Routing Protocols for Mobile, Ad hoc Networks
We evaluate several routing protocols for mobile, wireless, ad hoc networks via packet level simulations. The protocol suite includes routing protocols specifically designed for ad hoc routing, as well as more traditional protocols, such as link state and distance vector, used for dynamic networks. Performance is evaluated with respect to fraction of packets delivered, end-to-end delay and rout...
